Question:
I am being transferred by my work to a different province. Can I claim my move as a tax deduction?

Larry K.

Answer:
Dear Larry

You should seek the advice of your accountant on this matter or check with you tax consultant. To the best of our knowledge there are certain costs incurred in the sale of your home you can deduct. I know that the commissions paid to your REALTORŪ can be deducted, along with mortgage cancellation penalties, and some of your legal fees. As far as those other expenses that happen due to a transfer there are many but they do not fall into our area of expertise, and we actively encourage to seek the help of a tax professional.

I hope this gives you some answers to your question, and we thank you for your inquiry.
